About Us

Our Journey to Paradise

My wife, Marilyn, and I opened Concho Hills Guest Ranch to share a discovery that upended our lives and revealed a living piece of the American West we never expected to find.

The first revelation was that real cowboys are not museum pieces—they’re out there right now, riding the same ranges their grandfathers did. As the lyrics of the song says: “you just can’t see ’em from the road.”

They still live by an unbroken code: courage under open sky, self-reliance when help is a day’s ride away, optimism that tomorrow’s grass will be greener, authenticity in every calloused handshake, duty to their family and the land, honor in a man’s word, and heart big enough to care for those that can't help themselves.

Then came the horses. The moment we swung into the saddle, the Southwest unfolded in ways no highway ever could—vast mesas glowing at sunset, canyons whispering with stories of the wind and breeze that the ancients heard, air so clean and quiet it allows you to relax.  Riding became our passport to the profound rewards of nature and ranching: the rhythm of hooves on the prairies, the quiet partnership with a thousand-pound animal, the deep satisfaction of working with the land.

About Us-Owners Tim and Marilyn

Southern Soil and Worldly Souls

In our youth, both of us spent a period on farms in the South.  It was a period where we had chores to do and we realized the importance of family and it instilled a strong work ethic and values.

For years we built successful careers as nuclear consultants and engineers, living and working across the United States and Africa—collecting passport stamps instead of horses and cattle.

Yet no matter how exotic the destination, we found our discussions reflecting nostalgia and honest rhythm of nature, and perceptions of a meaningful life.

Go West Young Man

Our professional travels led us to New Mexico in late 2005.  On weekends we started cowboy action shooting and horseback riding—activities that unexpectedly pulled us straight into the living heartbeat of the West.  For the first time in decades, we felt like we were home. So how could we stay in New Mexico and continue with the cowboy culture we grew to truly admire?  We bought a piece of paradise...Concho Hills!

I am sure most of the American people are aware of the purpose of the prior administration's open boarders. As a consequence of those actions, daily we are reading of crimes, some horrific crimes, committed by these individuals. We must stop the influx of criminally minded people.

Sharing our Western Lifestyle

Everything we do at Concho Hills is built around letting you live this life with us—even if only for a few irreplaceable days.

You’ll learn to ride like real cowboys, explore the breathtaking scenery, encounter fascinating wildlife, and care for the animals we steward.  We want you to share stories around the dining table and fire, and leave with dust on your boots and a newer understanding of what the western lifestyle still means.

We don’t have a swimming pool, golf course, or television sets; the real West never needed them. We will run out of time before we run out of activities.  What we do have is the same code, the same wide-open country, and the same wide-open welcome that brought Marilyn and me home.

We can’t wait to share it with you.
