Contagious Disease Precautions

The Need for Precautions

The 2020 pandemic has affected most all of us, some people much more severely than others.   Our sympathy goes out to those who have experienced hardship and suffering as a result of that disease.

Because of that disease, and the government’s response to it, we have experienced cancellations for reasons beyond the control of Concho Hills and our guests.   Therefore, we have implemented precautions and common sense guidelines for any contagious disease.  We hope you will understand that, as always, the safety of the guests and staff at Concho Hills Guest Ranch is our primary concern.  These precautions change with time and government mandates, so please call before you come to check for the most current information.

Cancellations Because of Illness:

Deposits:  Concho Hills Guest Ranch incurs costs when guests book for reservations.   Also, we may refuse additional guests (based on availability) during the time period booked by other guests.  Therefore, guests’ deposits are non-refundable.  In case of cancellation or postponement of stay, the guests’ deposit can be applied for another stay in accordance with the terms and conditions on our page: All-Inclusive Rates.

Pre arrival:

If you or anyone in your party becomes sick of any contagious disease, then please stay home and reschedule.   As a courtesy to our staff and other guests, we do not want someone who is contagious to infect other persons.

If any of our guests are taking care of any person with a contagious disease, we ask them to consult with their doctor and wait the appropriate time before traveling or coming into contact with non-infected people.

Likewise, if any of the staff at Concho Hills becomes sick with a contagious disease, we will be forced to cancel all reservations until the person(s) recover and any appropriate quarantine time has passed.   So far, this has never happened.

Because of the precautions above, we recommend that our guests investigate the purchase of travel insurance.

While at Concho Hills:

Concho Hills Guest Ranch is 34 miles to the closest town and our closest neighbor is over 8 miles away.  We are a small operation with a maximum of 14 guests (unless further restricted by government health orders), so we are quite naturally isolated.

As routine practice, all of our staff are requested to stay home if they are not feeling well or believe they may be contagious with any infection.

Out of courtesy to our other guests and staff, if anyone becomes sick with flu like symptoms or other contagious symptoms while staying at Concho Hills, we will ask them to self-quarintine until they can leave.

We always recommend washing hands frequently on the ranch, especially before eating or drinking.

There are no bunk houses or large guest rooms at Concho Hills; there is a maximum of two people per room.

Safe Distancing:

At Concho Hills one will spend most of their day outdoors.

It is our policy at Concho Hills to maintain at least 12 feet between horses while riding.  This is done primarily to minimize interaction between the horses and to allow time for a rider to react to another horse.

Dining at Concho Hills is done in the owner’s residence dining room.

Masks:

Remaining twelve or more feet apart minimizes the need for masks.   Our activities often call for instructions and acknowledgement of instructions.   Therefore wearing a mask can interfere with being heard, which is an unsafe situation.  For this reason, we will not wear masks when riding or working with large animals.

Our guests may choose to wear a mask or not when not riding.  Concho Hills does not supply masks.
