$450 Per Person, Per Night, Plus Tax

We believe the price of your stay should be clear before you arrive.

After visiting ranches where drinks, snacks, activities, and other incidentals accumulated on the final bill, we chose a simpler approach for Concho Hills.

What Is Included

Our rider rate includes your lodging, meals, snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, horseback riding, introductory horsemanship clinic, guides, helmet use, most ranch activities, and transportation and meals on ranch-arranged historical outings.

Except for the few optional expenses listed below, you will not leave with a bill full of unexpected charges—and you won't have to bring your accountant on your vacation!

Four-Night Minimum for Your First Stay

If this will be your first stay at Concho Hills, our rider program requires a minimum stay of four nights.

Concho Hills has a unique horsemanship program: we train before we ride. Regardless of previous riding experience, every new guest begins with our Introduction to New Mexico Vaquero Horsemanship Clinic. This allows riders to understand how our horses are trained and how we ride before going onto the open range.

Infrequent riders generally need about four days to complete the clinic, followed by enough time to enjoy riding and other ranch activities.

For example, the 2026 cost of a four-night stay for one rider is:

$1,800 plus tax
$1,919.26 including the current tax

A Genuine Small-Group Experience

We currently host no more than four riders at a time. This allows us to give each guest considerably more individual attention and to adapt the riding experience to the group’s abilities, interests, and pace.

Solo Riders Are Welcome

We are not currently charging a single supplement, so solo riders pay the same per-person rate.

Non-Rider Stays

Not everyone who stays at Concho Hills comes to ride.

We welcome non-riding spouses and companions, as well as guests who come to enjoy ranch life, history, photography, hunting, or the quiet of western New Mexico. Please contact us for the rate that applies to your stay.

Optional Additional Expenses

A few optional activities and personal purchases are not included in the nightly rate:

Gratuities: Gratuities are not included and are always at the guest’s discretion.
Touring: Guests sometimes choose to visit local historic places such as Chloride, Magdalena, or Kelly. Transportation and meals on ranch-arranged outings are included in the nightly rate; admission fees, museum donations, and personal purchases are additional.
Individual Purchases: Retail items purchased by our guests on tours at shops and stores, or from our limited gift shop.
Riding Lessons: Some guests choose to improve their riding skills by taking lessons in addition to our Intro to New Mexico Vaquero Horsemanship Clinic. Therefore, with advance notice, we can arrange private or group riding lessons.
Shooting: Some people want to shoot firearms. Ammunition costs are additional. We charge what we pay for ammunition. One MUST have some form of firearms safety certificate (e.g. NRA course or Hunter Safety). If one does not have a firearms safety certificate, we can provide the required safety instruction via an NRA Basic Pistol Course. The course is included in the all-inclusive rate, but it requires a minimum of 8 hours so we must allow time in your schedule.

Children and Minors

Our insurance does not allow for children less than 12 years of age.
Children are charged the same rate as adults.
Parents or guardians must accompany and be responsible for minors.
All children under the age of 16 must wear a helmet when on a horse.

Transportation and Arrival

There are no formal check-in or check-out times. However, we recommend you arrive before lunch to get the most of your first day.
All lodging is in our guest rooms. We do not have facilities for parking or servicing trailers, RVs, horse trailers, or any vehicle other than personal automobiles and pick-up trucks. BLM and the U.S. Forest service have strict rules regarding off-road use of vehicles.
Our guests need to make their own transportation arrangements to and from the Ranch. If you are flying into Albuquerque airport, most guests rent a car for their stay. We are not aware of any private transportation companies offering service to Concho Hills.

Booking and Cancellation

Because of our remote location, we need a week's notice for bookings.
Booking confirmation requires a 50 percent, non-refundable, deposit. Concho Hills Guest Ranch incurs costs when guests book for reservations. Also, we may refuse additional guests (based on availability) during the time period booked by other guests.
In case of cancellation, your deposit can be applied to another booking for a period of one year from the original booking date for rebooking at Concho Hills.
Because of the occasional need to cancel or postpone one's stay, we suggest guests investigate potential advantages of travel insurance.

Riding Requirements

We have a rider weight limit of 230 lbs, dressed.
Riders must be physically able to mount and dismount their horse from the ground without assistance.Although terrain or a mounting block may sometimes make mounting easier, riders cannot depend upon either being available on the open range. This ability is an important requirement for safely participating in our riding program. If you have not ridden recently—or simply want to prepare for your stay—we have prepared a list of exercises to help you evaluate and improve your riding fitness before you arrive.
All horseback riding is on our horses. Our insurance does not allow for guests to bring or use their own horses.
All guests riding at Concho Hills for the first time must attend our Introduction to New Mexico Vaquero Horsemanship Clinic and ride our horses accordingly.
Concho Hills provides helmets. Riders under the age of 16 must wear one. Any adult rider who chooses not to wear a helmet must sign an additional liability waiver.

Before You Travel

Because of our remote location, please check your medical insurance to ensure it covers air ambulance costs. If not, please see our Air Ambulance Insurance page for possible options.

Ranch Policies

All buildings are non-smoking facilities.
There are no open flames outside (e. g. campfires) if the wind is blowing greater than 10 m.p.h. We do not have bonfires.
Guests must refrain from consuming any alcohol or psychoactive substances, including marijuana, for 8 hours prior to riding horses. This helps us maintain a safe environment for our horses and riders, as even legal substances can impair the coordination needed for horseback riding.
Concho Hills Ranch does not have a liquor license and we will not be offering alcohol for sale. However, if you want to bring your favorite libation we can keep it cool or provide the ice for you. Consistent with New Mexico Law, No one under the age of 21 is allowed to consume alcohol at Concho Hills.

Riding for the Brand Special Rate

Brands have been the symbol of a ranch in the west since the arrival of the Spanish. “Riding for the brand” became a term to describe the principle of loyalty that cowboys practiced when they worked for a ranch because the ranch preserved and respected their values and ethics that was their way of life.

Nothing is more flattering when someone decides to come back to our ranch to work or play. There are a lot of ranches out there and for one to choose to come back means they found something special there.

To reward that loyalty and appreciation for what we do, Concho Hills offers a 10% discount to any guests who return to Concho Hills to Ride for the Brand. This discount is for returning guests, to be applied to our normal rates. (The returning-guest discount cannot be combined with another discount or promotional rate.)
